Platinum Selling Sam Roberts Band Release Highly Anticipated New Single “Picture Of Love”
March 1st, 2023
JUNO award-winning rock act Sam Roberts Band release their new single “Picture of Love” via Known Accomplice / Cadence Music Group to all streaming platforms. The new track is the lead single from the group’s forthcoming album, due for release this fall.
Written by Sam Roberts and produced by JUNO award-nominated Gus Van Go (The Trews, Whitehorse), “Picture of Love” is a refreshing dose of warmth with guitars effortlessly woven through an irresistible melody. With over 100 million career streams to date, Sam Roberts Band continue to deliver their legacy of hit singles to take over the airwaves.
The new track marks the band’s first release since their 2020 album All of Us, which was released to critical acclaim, receiving a JUNO nomination for Rock Album of the Year and being named by Uncut Magazine as one of the top 10 highest-rated albums that year.
Born in Montreal, Sam Roberts had been a violin player, surrounded by a vast range of musical influences, who eventually moved on to guitar and started a rock band with friends. The Inhuman Condition became the best-selling independent EP in Canadian history and included a re-recorded version of “Brother Down” and the chart topper “Don’t Walk Away Eileen”. In 2003 he released his first full-length album, We Were Born in a Flame. This year marks the 20-year anniversary for the Double-Platinum certified album, which was a huge hit in Canada and won JUNO Awards for Album of the Year, Rock Album of the Year, and Artist of the Year.
Roberts has since continued to release hit Platinum and Gold-certified albums, winning awards across the board and landing once of a lifetime performance opportunities such as at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.
Fans will be able to hear “Picture Of Love” live this year when the band hit the road for select summer shows, including two nights at The Kee To Bala on September 2nd & 3rd, marking the 18th year the band have played the historic venue.
BEATLE ROYALE ’22 | Sam Roberts Band Playlist
January 28th, 2022
Like the rest of the planet we’ve also been on a bit of a Beatles kick, so we tasked ourselves to pick 4 songs each to make a playlist. Everyone only had 24 hours to make their choices, kinda impossible to choose only 4 faves to be honest. Only a few doubles came up. James and Sam both picked You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away and She Said She Said. Sam took them cause James had a couple other songs in the chamber. Josh and Eric both picked In My Life, but Josh let Eric have it and put in Girl. What a kind thing to do Joshy, very “Ringo” of you bud. Order of the picks go Sam – James – Josh – Eric – Nuge then repeats. Have a listen will ya, peace and love. ✌️

Chemical City was released 15 years ago, almost to the day, but in some ways the full story has yet to be told. On the original vinyl pressing, side four was left blank… a chapter missing. We recorded Chemical City with Producer Mark Howard in Newrybar, Australia in 2005 at a place called The Old Church (which is exactly what it was…an old church). After a couple of months of writing and recording, sunny beaches, fruit bats, large and small spiders, flat whites, Matt Mays… our friend and then label A&R man Allan Reid paid us a visit Down Under to see “where we were at.” As he later recounts, “Sam picked me up at the airport, took me for a swim in the bluest of oceans, then to the Church for a great steak dinner and amazing Australian wine… and then they got me high. Now it was time to hear the album… I don’t know if I was too high or if it was the jet lag but something just didn’t sound right.” (for that kind of no BS talk, Al will always hold a special place in our hearts…) At any rate – challenge accepted. We came home to Montreal three months later and resumed working on the songs, this time with childhood friend and producer Joseph Donovan. At last, armed with a finished album, we knocked on the door of the head of our record label to tell him that our now-overdue sophomore release was a concept album populated by astral voyagers, dead-beat super heroes, apocalyptic love, nefarious gangland henchmen and a rag-tag resistance…
Somewhere in all of the chaos that followed, a few of the songs were left behind. Either unmixed, unfinished or lost… Chemical City was released in 2006, ten songs and one blank side and has lived that way ever since. It is difficult for us not to consider the album as set in stone after having played the songs – the way it was meant to be. However, the truth is that there is a fourth side with songs and characters that complete the story. These songs are Major Minor (previously unreleased), Fall Before You Finish (previously released as a bonus track, now remixed and including missing tracks), The Cathedral (previously unreleased, was lost and found…) and Step Inside (previously released as a Japanese single, now remixed including missing tracks). This second pressing of Chemical City has also been remastered to incorporate the new side. Enjoy the music and thanks for listening. SRB
SAM ROBERTS BAND ANNOUNCE LATEST ALBUM ALL OF US. THE CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED SONGWRITER SAM ROBERTS AND HIS BANDMATES HAVE BEEN BUSY CRAFTING THEIR SEVENTH STUDIO ALBUM IN AND AROUND THEIR HOME TOWN OF MONTREAL. THE NINE NEW SONGS THAT MAKE UP ALL OF US ARE SET TO TAKE YOU ON A JOURNEY TOWARDS THE 21ST YEAR OF THE 21ST CENTURY.

Sam Roberts Band has been unleashing new music all summer and today the band are officially announcing their latest album All Of Us,due out October 16th on Secret Weapon / Known Accomplice.
All Of Us arrives in the middle of a global pandemic. The album’s opener, “Wolf Tracks” immediately dumps us in the Covidian wilderness, socially distanced from the pack, scattered and alone. Where does the path lead? To a version of the abyss that holds promise? This twilight-set album is not radically optimistic so much as that it refuses to fall into despair. Throughout this heartbreaking journey, SRB moves emphatically towards the 21st year of the 21st century, where life isn’t just passing us by, it’s coming at us with a chainsaw and an eviction notice. In this swirl of malevolence, salvation arrives not in the narrow kinship of the wolf pack, but in a much larger program of solidarity. The clue is in the album’s title: All Of Us.
The band’s first single from the album “Ascension”, a real stomper, slams like a fist of a mission statement. In August the band released their newest hit “I LIke The Way You Talk About The Future”, an infectious, thick groove with trippy vibes and inspired lyrics. “I Like The Way You Talk About The Future” is a head-nodding, instantaneously catchy track, fitting for the times we’re living in.
If you find yourself here, you already know that since 2002, Sam Roberts Band have dominated the airwaves, with hits like “Brother Down” and “Don’t Walk Away Eileen” from their debut album We Were Born In A Flame, Bridge to Nowhere from Chemical City, and “We’re All In This Together” from Lo-Fantasy, and have been selling out shows and sharing the stage with legendary bands like AC/DC and The Rolling Stones. Delivering their strongest album yet, All Of Us is an undeniably compelling body of work from a band whose future continues to unfold. Come along…

SAM ROBERTS BAND ANNOUNCES ‘TERRAFORM’, THEIR 6TH STUDIO ALBUM DUE OCTOBER 28TH
August 16th, 2016
Sam Roberts Band announced their new album TERRAFORM, set for international release on October 28th and available for pre-order today internationally on ITunes, as well as on CD or double vinyl in Canada at Universal Music Canada and elsewhere at Paper Bag Records.
Co-produced by Graham Walsh of H*ly F*ck and Sam Roberts, the 11 track album was recorded at the Bathouse Recording Studios, in Kingston, Ontario.
After locking themselves in studio for the month of March, the group’s time and spirit lead to the collection of songs that make up TERRAFORM. Roberts explains, “Terraforming is the concept of going to another planet and making it viable and livable for humans. But in a sense, for this record it can be seen as planting the seeds for that sort of renewal in your own life – that regardless of how much you have broken the parts of your life along the way, there is always a chance to start over.”
TERRAFORM is the sixth full-length album release since 2015’s COUNTING THE DAYS EP and 2014’s album LO-FANTASY. Roberts believes the key to the band’s longevity is their steadfast enthusiasm to stick to their artistic guns and consistently work to make a better album each time. Roberts emphasizes, “I think the challenge for our band is to still deliver the music with a sense of spontaneity, a sense of urgency and I think that when we go into a new record, we sort of loosen the grips of other people’s expectations and our own expectations.”
The lead single “If You Want It” is already a chart-climbing success currently in the top 5 at Alternative radio and counting. The tune captures what Sam Roberts Band does best; creative instrumental melodies and memorable lyrics that allow their listeners to interpret their own meanings from the songs. And in Sam’s own words: “It’s about a trip to Hell… And hopefully back…”
